This is the reason why we embrace the principles and join the RESPONSIBLE CARE® - voluntary initiative of the chemical industry companies. The project's main purpose is to make use of all possible means in order to secure sustainable development with environmental and human health safety and protection.

In May 2003 we achived the right to use the logo of the initiative and now our RESPONSIBLE CARE policy is a key element in our commitment to sustainable development.

Еlimination of ecological pollution

At this very moment Agropolychim works on a program for elimination of so-called ‘historical’ ecological pollution (the Environmental Remediation Program financed by the Bulgarian state). This program will cost about 8,5 mio USD. Besides that Agropolychim is responsible for financing and executing a program for compliance of the company's activity with the EU environmental legislation (the Environmental Compliance Progarm).

With the active co-operation, assistance, and knowledge of UMICORE, Agropolychim works on a restoration program, financed by the European Union which project is called SARA. The ambitious project of cleaning the old ecological contamination amounts about 8 180 670 Euro.

The combination of partnership and know how from UMICORE is the foundation of a rehabilitation program, which preparation is financed by the European Union under the program SARA. The projects for elimination of past ecological damages amount to 8 180 670 EURO.

Controling the risks of accident hazards involving dangerous substances

Agropolychim JSC is the only Bulgarian company participating in a pilot project (SEVESO 2), aiming to introduce system for control the risks of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances. The Irish Environment Protection Agency acts as consultant in the project. This pilot project aims at the compliance of Bulgaria with the requirements under Directive 96/82/EEC, namely the establishment of single criteria for dangerous substances and control of the risk of major accidents or hazards within the EU and the candidate countries.

Agropolychim JSC is the only Bulgarian company participating in a project for nitrous oxide reduction at nitric acid plant for reduction of the green house emission gazes. The project is the first one implemented within EU. It is a joint project with the Danish Environmental Protection Association (DEPA) at the cost of over 12 million Euro.

Agropolychim JSC implements all European directives in the area of environmental safety and participates actively in working groups within EFMA.

Main principal in new technologies implementation is the use of Best Available Technologies in order to comply completely with the environmental safety requirements.
